Staying calm in uncertain times
Staying Calm in Uncertain Times
Hey lovely ♡
March feels heavy.
The world suddenly feels unfamiliar, every news update seems overwhelming, and uncertainty is hanging in the air almost constantly right now. Life has changed so quickly over the past few weeks that it barely feels real some days.
Losing my freelance work so suddenly has been difficult to process.
One moment life felt busy and exciting, full of plans and momentum, and the next everything slowed down overnight. The cafés are quieter, London feels different, and there’s this strange feeling that everyone is collectively holding their breath waiting to see what happens next.
I think a lot of us are feeling anxious right now.
And honestly? That’s okay.
There’s so much pressure online to stay productive during difficult seasons, but lately I’m learning that simply staying calm is enough. Protecting your peace is productive too.
So instead of trying to control everything, I’ve been focusing on small comforting routines that help me feel grounded again.
Slow mornings.
Warm drinks.
Lighting candles in the evening.
Journaling anxious thoughts instead of holding them in.
Watching comforting films.
Long showers.
Soft music in the background while I work on creative ideas from home.
Tiny things are carrying me through right now.
I think cozy living matters even more during uncertain seasons because comfort becomes something intentional. We start creating safety in small ways. We learn how important ordinary routines really are.
Right now I’m trying to remind myself:
- it’s okay to slow down
- it’s okay to rest
- it’s okay to feel uncertain
- and it’s okay if survival is the only goal for a while
The world feels loud right now, but I don’t think we were ever meant to consume fear all day long. Sometimes the healthiest thing we can do is step away from the noise for a little while and protect our minds.
So lately I’ve been trying to create small pockets of peace wherever I can.
Making home feel cozy.
Keeping gentle routines.
Writing more.
Breathing deeper.
Taking life one day at a time.
And maybe that’s enough for now.
If you’re struggling this month too, I hope this reminds you that you’re not alone.
We don’t need to have everything figured out immediately.
Sometimes staying calm is the bravest thing we can do.
With love,
Hayley ♡
